The CONSUME Room
This week, I wanted to share an update on my in-home podcast studio-slash-guest room!! I had quite the mishap with this room and it’s the sole delay for why the CONSUME podcast isn’t publishing yet. I will be doing video so it’s important to me that all videos look the same and are recognizable online.
To make a long story short, I started working on this room six months ago, thought my designer ordered the furniture i paid for, but the furniture never came. i dont know what transpired exactly but I did get a refund. So I lost all that time, which sucks. but now, I’ve got an incredible friend-of-a-friend who is a designer helping me create this amazing space that will be done at the end of THIS MONTH!!
This is a simple layout of the room for reference:
Here’s a quick list of what I’m going for:
COZY, COZY, COZY.
Similar colors and tonEs that match my branding, which you may have already noticed in this newsletter.
A mix of new and old, modern and retro.
Patterns. You won’t see any in the mockup below because those will come in when we source curtains, chairs, and pillows.
MY MAIN INSPIRATION FOR THIS ROOM IS GIGI HADID’S FASHION LINE CALLED GUEST IN RESIDENCE. IT LITERALLY EMBODIES EVERYTHING I’VE ENVISIONED FOR CONSUME. IT’S COZY, EFFORTLESS, CHIC, OLD, NEW. The base of the color palette are bold neutrals with pops of color. I LOVE IT SO MUCH. HERE ARE SOME OF MY FAVORITE IMAGES.
Here’s a brief list of what we’re doing:
Wall paneling (similar design to my mock-up below)
Paint on the walls and ceiling. I’m still deciding if I want to paint trim and doors the same color too.
Electrical for sconces on each side of the bed.
Double-rod curtains the full length of the wall that has a window. This is going to be amazing to have as an additional backdrop!
Furniture, of course. The bed will be the main space that Thor and I record the podcast. I thought it made sense to record in a bed since that’s where a lot of people watch their favorite movies and shows.
See the mock-up below for some of the pieces we’ve sourced! We’ll be adding to this and I’ll be updating this blog post as we get further along.
